agreements

Agreements are intended to be fluid and sturdy, shift with our needs, provide clear pathways for safer engagement, and center the most vulnerable always.
Accountability
Accountability seeks to support healing without causing further harm, hold contradictory truths - that we can be harmed and cause harm at the same time - and provide safety in holding ourselves and each other accountable. Accountability processes can look like two folks chatting, BATJC pods, mediatory meetings, clearing circles, and conversations centering the needs of those impacted by harm in ways that support their self-determination.

Disclaimer
We have real structural and capacity limitations to the space we can hold. We are not experts but rather, curious artists eager to hold space for this work to be done.
Care before impact. Prioritize taking breaks, cancelling, and slowing down to be able to show up fully cared for. Work to hold needs. Without proper care, impact is limited.

No anti-Blackness ever. No expression of anti-Blackness will be tolerated ever.

Consent no matter what.
No pressure for anything ever. Resist coercion. Desire to violate consent comes from a history od hierarchy.

Center marginalized bodies.
Center SDQTBIPOC (Sick and Disabled Queer and Trans Black and Indigenous People of Color), survivsors, undocumented folks, sex workers, and all marginalized people. Value and humanhood are not dictated by capacity. We believe in the wholeness of disability and interdependence.

Protect and support autonomy.
Actively acknowledge and rectify dynamics and behavior that challenge and diminish personal autonomy. Each person’s intuition and innate wisdom of their body must be respected.

Solidarity, not charity.
Reparations are due. Pay up.

Honor the land, water, and resources where you are whenever possible and as you are able.
Acknowledging Indigenous peoples who are on the frontlines of protecting the water and land and impacted by COVID-19 is crucial. Native Land is a resource. Find out whose land supports you.
