Care Program

Who is this program for?
To be eligible for this program, an applicant must be experiencing financial hardship, be of Black and/or brown descent, 21+ years of age, and have an interest in activating their creative practice.

Why this program?

Black and brown queer and trans folk need their own healing space, and those spaces need to be financially viable. For the first time ever, Activation is a providing a free residency program to Black and brown queer and trans artists of all disciplines.

This space was dreamed out of a need identified at last year’s Activation. While a mixed race residency taught us a lot about beloging and moving forward together, it presented challenges many challenges toward safety.
It is our hope that Activation’s Care Program will provide artists with the oppportunity to unabashedly seek, perserve, and attain the care they need to thrive in their environment.

How does this program work?
Care Program participants are asked to self identify. Activation as an organization does not prescribe identity.

Black and brown folk who have access to funds and have no preference for an all Black and brown space must apply to the Class Traitor Program .

Black and brown folk who prefer an all Black and brown space and have access to funds will be waitlised. If space is available at the end of registration in August, waitlisted participants will be able to apply. If accepted, the artist pays a partial residency program fee of $250.
